Volunteer & Career Opportunities at ADV
ADV is a proud division under the Bergen County Department of Human Services that provides critical non-residential support services to Bergen County residents impacted by domestic violence and dating abuse. ADV envisions a Bergen County where all persons, families, and communities are able to access and thrive in safe, equitable, and autonomous relationships. For over 42 years ADV’s team of dedicated professionals have sought to partner with individuals and groups to prevent and eliminate domestic violence, dating abuse, and other forms of intimate partner violence, through comprehensive service approaches that strategically address the multifaceted causes and effects of abuse in diverse communities, such as prevention education, crisis intervention, legal advocacy, evidence-based counseling programs, and coordinated community responses to violence.
Our team of advocates, licensed clinicians, educators, legal professionals, administrative staff, and volunteers are all united in their shared passion and commitment towards eliminating domestic violence, elevating survivor voices, and advancing safety and justice for all victims of abuse. The County of Bergen is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE). We welcome all persons of all backgrounds who share the same commitment to antiviolence principles, personal integrity, and a dedicated readiness to challenge injustice and inequity working against survivors, advocates, and our larger communities.

Join the Movement to End Domestic and Sexual Violence Bergen County
Join Bergen County’s Coordinated Community Response Team
The Bergen County Coordinated Community Response to Domestic & Sexual Violence (CCR-DSV) is a community network of people and organizations in this County that coordinates and supports collaborative efforts to reduce domestic and sexual violence, dating abuse, and coercive control. We accomplish this through awareness, prevention, education, and advocacy.
The CCR recognizes violence as a critical community problem that poses significant threats to individuals, families, and the community. The CCR also recognizes that the power dynamics between the victim/survivor and perpetrator in domestic and sexual violence cases, when viewed through the lens of coercive control, calls for a specialized system of response.
Addressing the root causes of violence requires a broad perspective in our coordination, education and advocacy activities.
Objectives of the County CCR:
- To center victim safety and victim-centered responses at the heart of antiviolence dialogues, interventions, and systemic change processes in the Bergen County community
- To share information about our community’s response to violence in order to decrease the incidence of violence in our community
- To plan, develop, implement, and monitor an integrated service model of effective intervention in violent situations; there will be a particular focus on the services model for domestic abuse and sexual assault
- To monitor and seek to improve system performance in addressing violence in our community
- To focus public attention on the problem of violence and to develop community resources to deter it
- To propose and support legislation, ordinances, and other public policy protocols to further the organizational objectives
No one individual (or en tity) alone can end domestic violence which is why we are putting out a call to action for all of our community partners to join the Bergen County Coordinated Community Response Team. To add your agency or organization to the team, complete the following interest form below:
